From magnificent medieval history to a majestic cathedral

Day 1: Husaby–Lundsbrunn

Hike the scenic first stage of the Pilgrim Trail from Husaby to Lundsbrunn. Discover the historic Husaby Church, with its twin towers and origins dating back to the 11th century. Nearby is St Sigfrid's Spring, where Sweden's first Christian king is said to have been baptised.

Along the route, the trail passes through leafy forests and open countryside. A few kilometres before the end of the stage, the route passes Mariedal, an impressive 17th century Renaissance castle. The final section into Lundsbrunn follows the Sörbo Trail, which runs through a ravine towards the Mariedal River. This peaceful green environment is rich in flora and birdlife.

Day 2: Lundsbrunn–Skara

The second stage also passes through beautiful agricultural landscapes and green forests. The destination, Skara, is one of Sweden's oldest towns, with a visit to its magnificent cathedral an essential part of the experience.

After the day's hike, check in at Skara Stadshotell for some well deserved rest and a good meal.

General Information

Terrain: Easy to walk, mainly on gravel roads but also on trails. There is very little asphalt, although some sections are paved.

Public transport: Bus 116 between Lidköping and Götene stops at Husaby, but departures are limited. As an alternative, Närtrafik is recommended: Götene | Västtrafik
