The hiking trail Mickelskogen – Vaktarkullen is a varied walk with fantastic nature!
If you drive 3 km from the main road at Mickelskogen to the parking lot 1 km north of Minkan, you can walk a 7.5 km loop of the Bohusleden trail on Kynnefjäll.

Part of the trail follows a forest road. You pass Vaktarkullen, the mountain’s highest point at 206 meters above sea level, where the shepherd boys in earlier times had mile‑wide views over the sparsely forested landscape. Today, the forest has grown, but there is a lookout tower and a newly renovated overnight cabin with 12 beds that is open year‑round. Several hiking trails connect here.

If you continue north, you enter the Stora Holmevattnet Nature Reserve. The trail turns west here, but it’s well worth making a detour to the shelter at Stora Holmevattnet, Kynnefjäll’s largest lake, said to have as many islets and skerries as there are days in the year.
