Our region is sometimes called the cradle of the Swedish kingdom – and when you take a closer look at the many historic sites here, it’s not hard to understand why. There’s a wide range of attractions to choose from if you want to feel the presence of history!

Läckö Castle and the little castle garden

Läckö Castle, beautifully perched by Lake Vänern, was given its iconic baroque style by Magnus Gabriel de la Gardie in the 17th century. With its fairy-tale towers, it’s one of West Sweden’s top attractions and has been named Sweden’s most beautiful mansion. The castle offers 700 years of history, preserved baroque interiors, and hosts activities like concerts, opera, and guided tours for all ages.
