MTB trails at Kinnekulle

Whether you’re in training for the next road race or just want to cycle to keep fit you’ll find plenty of different sections to suit you.

Kinnekulle cycle challenge

Around Kinnekulle there are lots of quieter roads where you can cycle at your own pace, and if you want to avoid asphalted roads completely then you’re never far from a forest track. On Kinnekulle’s flowery slopes there are also waymarked mountain bike trails that take you along scenic winding paths under the verdant tree tops.

Collect your bike at Evald’s in Lidköping and cycle or drive to Kinnekulle, where you’ll be able to experience some lovely natural and cultural sights at the same time as being active. In the evening you’ll enjoy a two course meal at a restaurant before it’s time for a good night’s sleep at one of the town’s many hotels.

Kinnekulle

Kinnekulle has long been celebrated for its rich flora. When the famous Swedish botanist Carl von Linné visited this 306 m high plateau, back in the 1700s, he waxed lyrical about it and described Kinnekulle as one of the most remarkable places in the whole country.  Kinnekulle was formed 500 million years ago and is to this day a place of great interest for geologists. In the large quarry you can see for example 40 metres of Kinnekulle’s vast limestone strata.

The rich and unique flora on Kinnekulle, together with the fact that the whole surrounding area blooms with creativity, makes it easy to see how it got its nickname “The flowering mountain”.

When you visit Kinnekulle you don’t have to go far to see the different sights. You’ll find an observation tower, waterfalls, medieval churches, ancient rock carvings, limestone quarries, craft centres, walking trails, nature reserves, go cart tracks, beautiful farms, camping sites, swimming areas and much more, all within a short distance of each other.
