The hometown association started its business on May 19, 1944. The initiator was Pekka Langer's father Ture Langer, who was an active private researcher in Dalsland during the first half of the 20th century. He made sure that local community associations were formed in several places in the countryside. Ture Langer had a special love for Högsätersbygden.
Högsäters Hembygdsförening arranges hikings to interesting places in the immediate area and has an open house in the homestead farm during the summer.
